A mathematical model for synchromodal transportation in seine axis

This study introduces the concept of synchromodal transportation and discusses the advantages provided by the same over intermodal transportation. Modelled as a service network planning problem, a mathematical model is prepared to minimize multiple objectives such as cost, duration and emissions. The model is currently being validated on the seine axis river and sea ports in France and future works envisaged are also discussed.
