Balancing reconfigurable assembly lines with a fixed number of workstations in presence of uncertain tasks and limited resources is considered. Productivity and robustness are studied as two obejctives to be maximized for this problem. A new bi-objective based scalability measure is introduced for evaluating line balances. This latter is supported on the so-called tree of non-dominated configurations. An appropriate simulated annealing algorithm is proposed for efficiently handling this problem.
